Evaluations & Assessments

Alcohol and drug evaluations and assessments are typically recommended by the courts, probation officers, attorneys and employers to determine if an individual is in need of treatment. This process consists of meeting with a clinician who will evaluate the possibility of a problem, determine a diagnosis and develop specific treatment recommendations.

At Addiction Treatment of Maryland, a thorough bio – psycho social evaluation is completed by a certified addiction counselor. The evaluation assesses the extent of alcohol or drug use and determines if there are any co-occurring conditions including medical or mental health concerns. A diagnosis is made based on ASAM criteria. The results and recommendations are discussed with the individual and communicated to the referring agency.
